Preschool Certified Montessori

At A Place To Grow, we believe that “the child’s hand is the first teacher.” Therefore, our preschool children use authentic Montessori materials under the guidance of a trained Montessori teacher who nurtures the spirit of each child on their unique journey through the preschool years.

Each day includes time for children to make choices, accept responsibility, listen to one another, and become an active participant in the classroom community. Children learn through the different areas of art, science, geography, language, practical life, sensorial and math. We nurture in children kindness, peaceful resolutions to problems, friendships, and an awakening and connection to the global community.

Our preschool teacher, Savithri Peiris, has received certification and training from the Association of Montessori International (AMI) and the American Montessori Society (AMS). She has 12 years of Montessori teaching experience and as a Montessori parent.

Children have taught Savithri "to open my mind and my heart to the joys, the innocence and the diversity of ideas in the world. Because of this, I will never forget how to smile with the new, cherish the old and laugh with the children.
